In Springfield, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across Illinois vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are Open 24 hours. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (217) 725-7475. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

Its Google rating is 3.8 out of 5 from 103 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

I got the best service imaginable when I was stranded in Springfield after classes. After the auto shop I initially had my car towed to said they couldn't fix my flat until the next day, I called South Grand - they got to me within the hour. They took five minutes to assess the issue and fix the puncture hole in my tire, and I was able to return home as soon as they were finished. They also took Venmo, which I appreciated. I will never rely on another shop if I get a flat in Springfield again.

Never again will I use this guy. He charged me $110 for a tire and gave me a BAD TIRE. He didn’t even screw the hub cap on and it fell off while I was driving. I had to take my car to a mechanic to find out he gave me a bad tire and then when I texted him asking for my money back I was ignored.

Very shady, do not use service for anything. He gave me the run a round for 3 hours, then put on wrong size used tire trying to charge me for new. When I refused payment, he punctured tire and sped off, with his kids in back seat, leaving me stranded. Had to call cops, couldn't do anything because technically it was his tire still.

Called him around 430 asking if he could come replace my tire and that I live 2 hours away and I am stranded and he said, yeah, that's fine. I'll be there in 30 minutes waited over an hour called him again, he said it would be another 30 minutes waited, another half an hour, he never showed up. I kept calling him. He said something came up with his family and he would be another 20 minutes and I told him that we already been waiting for 3 hours and I still have a 2 hour drive home, I'm kind of stranded right now and he said, well, then, call somebody else. And now he won't answer my call. It's now 730 at night and nothing's open and I'm just stranded now because I put my faith in him to come help me.
